Women’s watches: how to choose the right one?

For many women, a watch is a fashion accessory that complements their outfits and adds a touch of elegance and refinement. But for a watch to fulfill its ornamental function, it must be well chosen. Here are the three main criteria according to which you should choose your watch.

Style

Like men’s watches, women’s watches come in countless styles: electronic, sporty, classic, quirky, and so on. It’s important to choose the watch style best suited to your clothing habits and tastes. For the office, choose a formal watch with a leather strap. For evenings out, go for shinier dials and metal bracelets, and why not gold or silver?

The size

Aesthetics are all about proportion. This rule obviously also applies to women’s watches. So choose a watch size that suits your wrist size. So, if your wrist is 15 centimetres or less, choose a case no larger than 32 millimetres. For a wrist between 15 and 18 centimeters, the case can measure up to 44 millimeters. If you have a thicker wrist, your watch case can measure up to 50 millimeters.

The movement

Automatic or quartz movement? You have to decide this question according to your preferences, your means, but also for practical considerations. Women’s watches with mechanical movements are the most precious, because they are handcrafted. It’s more expensive, but also more elegant and impressive. If your budget is limited, you can opt for a quartz watch, which can be just as elegant as an automatic. Mechanical watches that need winding are less practical, rarer and more expensive, but well worth it, as they are often jewels of ingenuity.
