Which automatic movement to power our watches?

Many of you asked us questions about the automatic movement that we chose to bring our watches to life: the Miyota 9015. Some wondered why we didn't offer quartz models, while others questioned us on ETA movements. In a previous article, we explained our desire to offer automatic watches rather than quartz movements. So today we are going to focus on the differences between the ETA movement and the Miyota 9015 and why we chose the latter.

MIYOTA 9015 vs ETA 2428

Let's focus, first, on the many similarities. The two automatic movements, one Japanese and the other Swiss, have a frequency of 28,000 A/H, that is to say 4 HZ. What does this figure correspond to? This is the oscillation number, the higher the frequency, the greater the precision. The number of jewels is also practically equal with 24 for the Miyota and 25 for the ETA. These stones, which before were a guarantee of quality, above all increase the precision of the watch and also its lifespan by reducing damage to points of wear.

The devil is in the details, let's move on to the differences. As we said a little earlier, one is made in Japan from 100 years of watchmaking tradition and innovation: the Miyota 9015. The other movement, the ETA 2824, Swiss, is produced by the Swatch group.

The first difference is at the level of the production price. The Swiss 2824 movement is slightly more expensive than the 9015 (thus allowing us to offer our watches at the price we offer). However, our choice also focused on another very important criterion: dimensions. With practically equal diameters, 26 mm for the Miyota and 25.6 mm for the ETA, the difference is really felt in the thickness of the movement: 3.9 mm for the Japanese and 4.6 mm for the Swiss. This last point is essential for Beaubleu watches because we wanted to offer you a thin automatic watch (9.5 mm thick) which would not have been possible with an ETA (around 11/12 mm).

We now have two elements left to compare: the power reserve (running time when the watch is not moving, before stopping) and precision. The Miyota 9015 therefore has a power reserve of 42 hours and a precision of 12 to 30 seconds per day, while the ETA 2824 has 38 hours of reserve and 10 to 30 seconds per day of precision.

The Miyota 9015 automatic movement, the big winner for our Beaubleu watches

You will have understood, the Miyota 9015 has largely proven itself in our eyes.

No chauvinism here, but relevant and pragmatic choices on the offer we wanted to offer. A movement with contained dimensions for a fine and elegant watch. A manufacturer recognized for its precision and a sufficient power reserve to accompany you during your long evenings.

And as you know, only experience is the judge, and after 3 years of experience with the Miyota 9015 animating the first B01 collection, the entire Beaubleu community is today convinced of its reliability and robustness.

You are now ready to discuss with your loved ones the importance and relevance of this choice of automatic movement as a proud Beaubleu Ambassador.
