Mouvement automatique Miyota 9015 pour nos montres aus aiguilles rondes Beaubleu Paris

The short history of the Miyota 9015 automatic movement

Many of you are wondering why we did not choose a Swiss partner. To explain our choice to you, let's retrace our steps with a little history.

At the end of the 19th century, after centuries of isolation, Japan opened up to international trade. Thus, the Swiss took the opportunity to transfer watchmaking skills and train the Japanese. Originally, this process was intended to allow them to diversify their commercial outlets and open up new markets. However, Japanese watchmakers, quickly becoming experts, began to develop the local watch industry.

Subsequently, the country, which was to be a partner of choice for Switzerland, quickly transformed into a solid competitor by developing factories (including Seiko, today a watchmaking giant).

Miyota 9015 automatic movement by Citizen Watch

Citizen Watch, any of you recognize this name? Indeed, today the two giants of Japanese watchmaking are Seiko and Citizen Watch Miyota.

It was in 1959 that the Citizen Watch factory was established in the town of Miyota in Japan and it was 20 years later that sales operations began, notably with the introduction of the caliber 2035, its iconic model.

Subsequently, different models arrived, and it was finally in 2009 that the Miyota 9015 automatic movement, a revolutionary development of the 8215 caliber, was introduced to the market.

The Miyota 9015 automatic movement and our Beaubleu watches

The story between Beaubleu watches and the Miyota 9015 began with the birth of the house with round hands in 2017. It was in fact with the launch of our first B01 collection that we placed this movement at the heart of our watches. . At that time (not so long ago), it was the balance we were looking for in terms of quality and price offered. Even today, it remains our first choice, and for a few years to come.

If we now go beyond the previous criterion, it is also for its finesse that we chose it, thus allowing us to offer automatic watches with a thickness of less than 1 cm (perfect to put under a shirt like to wear with your white t-shirt for the weekend).

It was important to us to explain a little more about the history - often little known - of the Japanese movement that we have carefully chosen, the heart of our watches and the one that drives our round hands. It's now a done deal, and for the most curious, head to the website of the factory itself!
